The 5 minute mantle redesign challenge and giveaway!!!

I went to my buddy Kim’s house for dinner last week.  My neighbor and friend Liz and her family joined as well.  The three of us sat chatting on the couch while the kids played in the back yard and our husband’s grilled up the burgers.

While we were talking, Kim mentioned she wasn’t happy with her mantle but didn’t want to spend any money to make it look pretty.  Within minutes we had a challenge!!!!  The three of us would each have 5 minutes to scope the house and redo the mantle and we would ask you guys to pick the winner!!!

  5. brittney July 23, 2013 at 2:03 pm #

WELL, Im probably going to be NO help at all BUT, heres my opinion, if you could “smoosh” the things in option 2 closer together like was done in option 3, add the white cross and add just 1 family photo like option 1, that’s what I would choose.

    • brittney July 23, 2013 at 2:05 pm #

Actually re looking, I say add a pic and the B to the 3rd option, but I suppose though I like elements of them all if I have to chose between the 3, then option 3 wins.

  6. Denise July 23, 2013 at 2:24 pm #

    My vote is for #2

  7. Thelma July 23, 2013 at 3:04 pm #

    Option 2

Out of the three choices, I go with Option #2, Especially for Summer, it’s a cleaner look!! Sounds like you ladies had a great time!

  9. Julie Johnson July 23, 2013 at 4:08 pm #

    Option 2 has my vote.

  12. Jen Higgins July 23, 2013 at 5:05 pm #

I like elements of them all, but option 2 is my favorite. However, I would add the biggest family photo in option 1 to the empty space.

  13. Denise July 23, 2013 at 5:07 pm #

Definitely option #2! Simple and elegant.

  14. Crystal July 23, 2013 at 5:29 pm #

  31. Mindy July 23, 2013 at 11:04 pm #

I like #2 – it’s not so busy and very calming – the first was too much “little stuff” for me.

  32. Katy @ Lolly Linens July 23, 2013 at 11:06 pm #

My favorite is #2. Great job on all of the mantles!

  33. Melissa Sanders July 23, 2013 at 11:14 pm #

    Definitely number 2!

  40. Martha July 24, 2013 at 12:36 am #

  45. Tiffany July 24, 2013 at 1:48 am #

I’m loving #3!!! I am also loving that cute little owl…she would look precious in my family room:).

    #2!!!

  47. julie ball July 24, 2013 at 2:43 am #

My eyes keep going back to option 2. I guess less really is more! However… if it were my mantel I’d switch the B out and put a photo in its place. I like the B, but not so much next to the plate. But that’s just me. :)

  48. Mollie July 24, 2013 at 3:15 am #

I agree with the majority….#2 is my fave. Less is more!
I also love letters for some reason…and the ‘B’, in this case, stands for ‘best’… : )

  49. marie July 24, 2013 at 9:54 am #

Having friends come by and share/demonstrate redecorating options is an awesome idea. I’ve got a couple areas that would benefit from this!

I like option 2 the best…I think I’d add the family photo to it as well. On the left side, in between the vases.

  50. Julie July 24, 2013 at 11:28 am #

Option 2 is my fave. Less is more, it seems. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your cutiepie owls!
