Random Friday thoughts!

One of my favorite places to walk around and get totally inspired is West Elm.

And look what they just introduced………

Ohhhhh I have so so so so many ideas where I want to try this!!  As a backsplash in my kitchen, a whole wall in my sewing room, or as a head board in my guest bedroom!  It kind of reminds me of what my friend Tracy did to her master bedroom.  Amazing.  Of course West Elm prices for this stuff is EXPENSIVE!!!!  Anyone used this before!?!?  Does anyone have any ideas for something similar but cheaper!?!?

On returning from the Becoming Conference last Sunday, I wanted to take some time to rest and catch up.  I read this book.  Every American needs to read this.  It left me in tears, totally inspired to be a better person to my family, friends, and strangers I come into contact with.  It made me sick to realize just how much I have been taking for granted.  Amazing, amazing book.

Wow!! Now I’m older than you Miss Button. Our paneling was high quality wood, not pine or the cheap imitations of the early 70′s so as we watched Bewitched and Batman, gathered around the beautiful wood TV, on the wall of paneling, I grew to love my parents real wood paneling. Our senior pictures, all of us kids, were professionally framed (we weren’t rich but Dad wanted them to look nice and good thing for they’ve been hanging on this gorgeous not shiny wood paneling for 46 to the final child’s 36 years ago. And Vern Yip didn’t get paneling. And you don’t until this fun new twist…lay the wood sideways!!! Now what was considered an awful decor statement takes on a new life by just flipping those wood slats horizontal!! So maybe someday ill be asking, ummm Mom, when you’re done with the grad pics and wood paneling, could we carefully take it off and lay it up sideways?? Miss Button would think we are soo in style!!

LOVE IT! I recently did a wall the hard way (cutting, sawing and nailing boards) here: (http://summerscottage.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/walk-the-plank/) but have a friend who wants to do a wood planked wall in her Master. I think this is the answer! Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I’d be really curious to see these planks in person! It beats hauling a king-sized headboard of solid oak up two flights of stairs :-/ Thanks for the link!

Hi! My husband and I loved the idea of old wood paneling in our bedroom as a backdrop, but didn’t want to use actual wood… we found some wood peel and click in flooring on super markdown at Home Depot. My husband cut it to fit 3/4 of the way up the wall, vertically (the way I wanted it :) and then put a shelf of real wood on top which matched the grey hue almost exactly… the rest of the wall up to the ceiling is a blue that I loved! We put all our favorite things, some old maps and vases on the shelf. I am looking forward to the day I can have a really fluffy white comforter with lots of pillows! For now though, with 3 littles we have an old blue and white bedspread… Wow… sorry for the rambling!
