When I was 7, I saw some homeless people going though a dumpster and thought WOW!! what a GREAT idea!!!
I have been asked on numerous occasions to leave the dump premises by the dump officials.
When I was little my dad and I used to poke around with his metal detector. I still have the bottle I dug up from one of those outings.
Trash day is my favorite day of the week, you just never know what you might find sitting curbside!!! I think my neighbors are used to seeing me skipping home with something from someone’s trash! I found this bench outside for trash pickup. I painted it green and it’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture.
I find a lot of creative inspiration at our local dump. Although the people that work there don’t like me, I love to go and pretend like I am throwing stuff out, but really I’m there undercover snooping around. (I play these little games in my mind, it is really weird). My husband use to send me with stuff to throw away until I started coming home with more than I went with. You would be amazed at what people throw away. Look at what my friend Jennifer pulled out of the huge trash pile at the dump!!
Can you believe someone actually throw that away!!?!? Can you believe Jennifer got to it before I did!?!?!
As soon as I see all that trash my brain goes into overdrive. I see an old pallet and I think table, an old piece of wood could be a sign, refrigerator drawers become storage bins, and on and on. Here are a couple projects that are mostly created from trash and things laying around the house.

|My new sign for my new space at Sanctuary! I tried to make it look as much like my logo as possible. I found that big piece of wood at the dump along with the wood I used to make the leaves. I am not thrilled with the writing, but I think it will be a good little addition to my space!|
What’s the best thing you ever found in the trash?
