Here’s a fun and easy little craft that you can do with your kiddos to get you in the Valentine’s Day mood.

Fabric hearts

Grab lots of fun fabric!

Fabric hearts

Grab your bestest girl.  Isn’t this sweet, mother and daughter creating together!?!?!  Let me be real for just a second….  This is after we got in a huge fight because I wanted her to pull out her sewing machine and sew with her momma.  She went on to inform me that sewing is sooooooo stupid!  Good times!!!!  Once I got her in my sewing room and locked the doors we made a heart template.  We folded the fabric in half and then traced the heart onto the wrong side of the fabric.

Fabric hearts

Before we started sewing the two hearts together we added a little twine in between the two pieces of fabric with a little sticking out the side.

Fabric hearts

If I can get her to sit still and start a craft she really enjoys it.  It’s just getting her to sit still long enough to get started.  She is so super creative and has all sorts of great ideas, however she would much rather be out climbing  trees, running around with all the neighborhood kids, and building forts.  Love this girl.

Fabric hearts

When you sew the two pieces of fabric wrong sides together make sure to leave a 2 inch opening to turn the heart inside out.  Cut excess fabric off around the heart.

Fabric hearts

Turn hearts right side out and iron.

Fabric hearts

Top stitch leaving the 2 inch opening for stuffing!  Once you are done stuffing sew up the opening!

Fabric hearts

Hope you have a day full of love and laughter!  xoxoxo Angela

oh and P.S.  Sewing is soooooo not stupid!

Embroidery hoop art and art classes!

Embroidery hoop art!

Do you want to make these!?!?  I have some exciting news at the end of this post!!!!

Embroidery hoop art!

I recently stopped by Value Village Thrift in Mooresville, NC one afternoon.  If you are in the Charlotte area this is a must stop if you heart thrift stores.  I scored 14 embroidery hoops for 4.99!

I almost had a heart attack when I saw this fabric at Mary Jo’s Cloth store in Gastonia, NC.  Again if you are in the Charlotte area and have a fabric obsession like I do you haveeeeeeeeeeeeee to go to Mary Jo’s.  It’s like a Lowe’s but all fabric and sewing notions.  I take my packed lunch with me when I go because I know I’m going to be there for a while and will need to fuel up!

I very excited to share with you a new little adventure here at Button Bird Designs!!!!

I have always loved art and love sharing it with others.  That is why I love doing this blog so so so much.  I have dreamed and dreamed of one day owning a little art boutique and teaching art classes.  Not quite there on the owning a shop yet (YET I SAY) but I would like to go ahead and start teaching art classes!!!

I will be announcing different types of  day and evening art classes for adults and children that will take place in my home.  If you would like a private party with your friends I will come to you with all supplies, or you can book a private art class at my house!

So the first class I am offering is…..

Embroidery Hoop Owls Art Class      $25.00

Tuesday, February 5th    10:00-12:0

Just in time for Valentine’s day!  Make this adorable hoop owl for a friend, child, or keep for yourself.  Grab a friend and join me at my house for a morning of creating and fun!  All supplies will be provided as well as all the fancy water and coffee you can drink.  Don’t come hungry.  I will not make anything to eat because I don’t want you to leave sick (and I hate to cook).

Hope you will join me!  So so so so so super excited!

If you have any questions or would like to sign up please send me an email at buttonbirddesigns@gmail.com

If you don’t want to make your own and would like to purchase one of my Hoop Owls please visit my Etsy shop or my cubbie at Sanctuary of Davidson!
