Buy a bag and give water! Oh and a giveaway!

Spring bags are here!  But what does that have to do with water!?!?

Do you remember my friend Courtney and her cool Live with Less t-shirts?  She is so amazing and has totally inspired me to get involved with Compassion’s Water of Life Program.

Every day over 4,000 children are dying of water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid that are easily preventable. Many more are suffering sickness, diarrhea and acute stomach pains – illnesses that stop children going to school and growing up into healthy adults.

  • Approximately 1.8 million children die each year as a result of diseases caused by unclean water and poor sanitation. This is around 5,000 deaths a day.
  • Water-related diseases are the second biggest killer of children worldwide.
  • Worldwide, approximately 425 million children under 18 do not have safe water.

So what does this have to do with spring bags!?!?!  Buy a Button Bird Designs bag today through March 1, and $10.00 from each bag purchased will be donated to Compassion’s Water of Life Program.

THE BIG SALE

big sale

I am so excited about November!!  The Nester and I have two fun and exciting weekends that we would like to share with you!      Nester and I are cleaning out our homes, our closets, our garages, our offices, and having a BIG SALE.   The Sale will have tons of home stuff, tons of clothes, jewelry, art work, home stuff, furniture, books, and did I mention home stuff!!! It’s nicer than a yard sale but not as new as retail.  You do not want to miss this!  I went over to Nester’s house last week and let’s just say it was complete and total torture to leave without begging her to let me buy everything right then.  That would kinda defeat the point of me getting rid of everything in my house!!  The best part about the Big Sale is that a portion of the sales will go to Compassion.  So feel good about getting some of that Christmas shopping done for loved ones or yourself, while supporting a good cause.

When:  Saturday November 17th  11:00am to 3:00pm

Where:  Wynfield Forest Clubhouse, 15722 Wynfield Creek Parkway Huntersville, NC  28078

Here is a very small sampling of some of the things I will be selling.  Check out The Nester’s site to see some of her sale items!

Sale with Nester

Lots of fun, unique, one of a kind, items!

Sale with Nester

Brand new items that have never been used!

Sale with Nester

My closet it almost empty and I love it!  Vintage red leather coat anyone!?

Sale with Nester

Jewelry and accessories!

vintage bike

Yes it pains me to get rid of this.  It will only go to someone who will ride it everyday, love it and take care of it.

big sale with the nester

November 10,  The Nester and I will be at the 3rd annual Marketplace put on by The Kilgoris Project for Kenya.

Marketplace is an annual fundraiser where local and international artisans gather to promote their work while supporting a worthy cause. All proceeds from Marketplace events help fund The Kilgoris Project, an organization that educates, feeds, and provides medical care for hundreds of Maasai children in rural Kenya. (from the website)

Marketplace is a handmade marketplace featuring vendors and artist who sell everything handmade.  I will be there selling my Button Bird Designs goodies!  Come on out and support artists, buy handmade for Christmas, and support a worthy cause.

Will I see you there!?!

P.S.  If you have a second will you like Button Bird Designs on Face Book!?  Right over there top right?  If you are interested you can also sign up to receive these blog posts by email!

Thank you!  xoxoxo Angela

Operation Button Bird. Help the environment, Help a child

This is Courtney.  She is amazing.  She has totally inspired me.  Her project is Live With Less.

Live With Less exists to inspire others to live with less, give more, and make a difference.

Our desire at Live With Less is to provide clean drinking water to communities who are without it. We are partnering with Compassion International to do so.  According to Compassion International, 4,000 children everyday are dying of water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid that are easily preventable.  All because they don’t have access to clean drinking water.  The cost of providing clean drinking water for one family for LIFE is only $79. Let me say that again, $79.00.  That’s basically a pair of shoes. Or a tank of gas. Or a couple of video games.   -Courtney

live with less  Courtney is selling these awesome t-shirts and 50% of the sales will help provide safe, clean drinking water for families in need.  I already bought mine and everyone I know is getting one for Christmas.  Read more about the program here.  Order your shirt here.

Courtney has completely and totally inspired me.  I want to live with less, I want to help, and I want to give.  So I prayed, I prayed for a way that I could use my love to create to make a difference.

I came up with these guys.

animal pillows

Uses for plastic bags

These sweet lovable animal pillows are not your average pillow.  These pillows are all stuffed with about 20-25 plastic grocery bags that my daughter and I collected around the neighborhood.  A little way to help the environment.
