I love our bedroom. It’s quiet, uncluttered, simple and peaceful (except when my husband leaves his shirts, shoes, socks, pants, shorts, belts, watch, gym clothes, gym bag, golf shoes, golf tees, golf balls, golf gloves, hats, flip flops, receipts, wallet, basketball, football, tennis shoes, computer, phone, ipad, ace bandages, keys, hats, hats, hats, cups of half filled water, beer caps, coins, and other fun stuff laying around). However recently those two tiny little lamps that we’ve had since we were married started to bug me. They don’t go with the giant bed and the giant furniture that fills the room. But they worked and it just didn’t seem necessary to go out and spend a bunch of money on lamps.
I stopped at Habitat Restore on my way home the other day. I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw these two lamps from across the room. Another lady was eyeing them but I beat her to them with my quick cat like reflexes (that only work in thrift stores).
I didn’t like the color of the lamp shades but they were in great shape and I had seen shades wrapped in fabric and other ideas on Pinterest. I thought once I got them home, I could figure out something to do with them.
The price was right!
Sold!
When I got home I remembered this piece of hmmmmm….I am not sure what to call it. I found it at Habitat Restore several months ago for $3.00. Someone had sewn a bunch of book pages together! I’d would really love to meet the person who made this, I think we would be very good friends!
I cut several strips of the bookpage paper and cranked up my glue gun.
I glued the bookpage paper to the inside top and inside bottom of the shades.

I had to fight the urge to add pom poms or trim or yoyos or buttons. I wanted these lamps to be simple and quiet, like the room. I’m so happy with how they turned out!
