Easy Embroidery Flower Necklaces!!

embroidery necklaces (2) I found these pendents on a recent trip to Hobby Lobby!  Hobby Lobby in the skyyyyyyyyy…..I have this song I sing every time I walk into that giant box of goodness.  They were 50% off so I bought these for whatever half of $3.47 is!!  Such a great deal I bought 5 packs!

embroidery necklaces I have a several pieces of embroidery that I picked up at local thrift stores.  While the embroidery is beautiful most of the fabric is stained and unusable.

embroidery necklaces

Since it was stained and unusable I didn’t have that hard of a time cutting it up.  At first I tried cutting out a circle and then Mod Podging it to the glass, but that didn’t work so well.

embroidery necklaces

I decided to try to Mod Podge the glass directly onto the embroidery.  Ahhhh much better!

After it dried for an hour or so, I cut the fabric as close to the circle as I could get and then I popped them in the pendent!  Check out those beautiful manicured nails.  Don’t hate.

initial necklace

I was going through my stuff that I had left over from the Big Sale.  Somehow the Nester’s cool lockets ended up in my pile.  I immediately sent her a text to see if she wanted them back and where she bought them.  She replied back that I could have them (she is so generous) and that she had purchased them at either Michael’s or Hobby Lobby.

As I looked over the lockets, I had several ideas pop into my head.  Then three people that are on my Christmas list popped into my head!!!

For this project I was going to need perfect cut out circles for the lockets.  Luckily I have this bad boy.  If you don’t have one of these, grab your 50% off Micheal’s coupon and go out and get one.  I have used this over and over again for cut out circles in different sizes.

I was just going to use regular college rule notebook paper because I love the old schoolness of it.  Then I remembered I had this paper in my stash.

I still wanted to use the notebook paper and grabbed my $1.00 Micheal’s alphabet stamps to create words that reminded me of these three friends I was making the gifts for.

initial necklace

I glued the two circles together with a glue stick.

I buy ball chain in bulk on Etsy, I usually get around 100 necklaces for $20.00, but you can order a lot less then that.  You can buy ball chain at Hobby Lobby or Micheal’s as well.  It’s just great to have around to create fun necklaces for friends or for my daughter and her friends to play and create with.

One very cool inexpensive necklace that can be worn two ways.

Ok L, B, K don’t judge the gift by the amount spent!  Remember it’s the thought that counts! xoxoxo

Are you giving any handmade gifts this year!?!?

Trash to treasure Displays part 2

Jewelry Display

I bought this, hmmmmmmm not really sure what to call it at Oak Street Mill Antiques and Collectibles in Cornelius, NC.  If you haven’t been you really should put it on your to do list!  I fell in love with the giant white wood piece instantly and had a million ideas for it in my home.  I thought about painting the inside with chalk paint and using it in the kitchen as a big chalk board.  I also thought of blowing up a photo of our family and Mod Podging it to the center and hanging it on a wall.  I loved it, bird poop on it and all!

Jewelry Display

First I cleaned it up and filled all the holes with wood puddy.  A little sanding and then I painted the inside with some grey wall paint left over from my bathroom makeover on the cheap.

Early morning drilling is the best drilling time.  Gets your juices flowing and starts the day off right.  Yes you can quote me.

Jewelry Display

I decided I would use this as a display piece for my jewelry at Sanctuary of Davidson.  I love to make jewelry but never really have a great way to display it.

Jewelry Display

Krissy do you remember this!?!  This was a leg that came off an old sign that Krissy used outside Sanctuary of Davidson.  When the sign bit the dust, Krissy let me take home the pieces.   Yes I was pretty much taking the trash off her hands.  This has been sitting in my garage for over a year.  I thought I might eventually turn it into a stem for a flower but turns out there was a much better use for this piece of broken signage!!!

Jewelry Display

A little hinge action!  I will admit I was just going to prop this display up against the wall and cross my fingers that no one knocked it over.   Luckily my husband and father in law had a better idea!

Jewelry Display

A little chain action.

Jewelry Display

TA DA!!  Now it stands all by itself and I don’t have to worry about some kid getting knocked in the head.  Perfect for my cubby at Sanctuary or for Marketplace tomorrow!
