Be scared, be very scared!

cooking

This is how I feel when I enter the kitchen.  I’m not a cooker, a baker, or lover of making food.  I just don’t have that gift of whipping up something yummy.  If you come to my house for dinner you will most likely meet my dear friend the pizza delivery guy.  I make my husband and kids nervous when they see me pulling out bowls and cracking eggs.  It could be those couple of small fires that I have started.  Howeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  I do know how to make pumpkin muffins!  These are the easiest and best tasting things and they make your house smell like fall.

pumpkin muffins

Brace yourself… here for the first time ever I will be sharing a recipe!!!  To makes delicious pumpkin muffins just buy these two ingredients.  Make the cake according to the box directions and add that pumpkin can stuff.  There you have it.  Feel free to print out these directions!

Look at me!!!!  I’m mixing!!!  I just bought my first mixer thing two years ago.  Yes I am almost 40.  Any who I went to try it out but it didn’t work.  I was so mad that of all the mixers, I picked the one that didn’t work.  At that moment my husband walked into the kitchen and nervously asked what I was up to.  I told him I was going to have to take my new mixer back because it didn’t work.  He then proceeded to plug it in and laugh at me hysterically.

So when this happens, when I see crumbs from something I cooked up, it’s a good thing.  A very good thing!!!

Tea Holder

While we’re chatting kitchen stuff, here is my favorite thing in my kitchen.  I found this at Goodwill for $2.99, and it has become my pretend Keurig!  I want a Keurig so very very bad but as you know they are super expensive and I already have a coffee maker.  Do I really need both?  I’m all about simplifying these days and not spending money, but Ohhhhhh to have a Keurig and to be able to whip up a cup of coffee or cup of tea in an instant sounds like a dream.

I loveeeeeee drinking tea in the fall and winter.  This is my fancy little tea station.  This simple little corner in my kitchen makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

tea mugs

I splurged on a couple of coffee cup from Pier One. Somehow drinking out of this pretty mug makes me so happy and makes my tea taste better.

tea kettle

I usually just make my tea in the microwave but when I’m feeling fancy I use my tea kettle.  Howeverrrrr……..most of the time I forget that I have turned it on and then when it screams that it’s ready, it scares me to death and I scream along with it.

owl trays

When I’m enjoying my tea I have a little snack on these owl plates that I found at Value Village Thrift for 12.99.  It’s the little things that make me happy.

So for all of you Keurig owners out there… Is it worth it!?  Do you love your Keurig!?  Should I sell an organ and buy one or just save my money and enjoy my regular old coffee pot and tea station?????

Christmas Stressor Number 1

You are invited to a cookie exchange.
These are words that make me break out in a sweat.
I can’t cook, much less bake!!!!!! I want to come to the party, but I have to bake cookies AND bring the recipe to share.  That means I can’t go to Harris Teeter, buy cookies and then put them on a pretty plate and pass them off as my own.  One of my best friends just invited me to a cookie exchange where you have to bring 5 dozen cookies.  5 DOZEN COOKIES!!!!  Sure I can build you a house while I’m at it too.  I broke out in a sweat just reading the invite.  To me that is like asking someone who has never picked up a paint brush to bring 5 paintings to share with guests.  Granted Tonya (who I swear is my own real life Mary Poppins) text me after she sent the invite and offered to help me bake some cookies if I came.  She knows me too well.
So this is my answer to the cookie exchange invite.  I want to come hang out.  But I can’t bake you any cookies that you will want to put in your mouth much less share with your friends.
This sweet lady at a recent Christmas bizarre was handing these out as samples.  I swear they are the best things in the world and if I can make them, ANYONE can make them!
What you need:
Pretzel squares
Rolos
Walnuts
Directions:
1.  Put Rolo on pretzel
2.  Microwave for 15 seconds
3.  Smash walnut in Rolo
Done!!!!!  I call them Holiday Destressors.  Just in time to enjoy the cookie exchange!
