Did someone say vintage!?!?

Painted Furniture

I found this little end table for $5.00 at a yard sale.

Painted Furniture

It didn’t bother me a bit that some of the wood was broken off.  Knowing my impatient self there was no way I was going to try to fix the missing wood piece.  I knew a little paint would cover it up plus the missing wood piece would just add a little character! Painted Furniture

While strolling along aimlessly in Lowe’s the other day, I found this beautiful color already mixed up!  Ohhh already mixed up and ready to go and no mix the paint lines!?!?  Did I mention I’m a tad impatient!?

Painted Furniture

I’m such a sucker for paint names.  My dining room paint color was chosen based solely on the name!!!  Vintage blue.  Yep put vintage in front of anything and it becomes very appealing to me!!

Painted Furniture

Two coats of paint, a little distressing, and some antiquing glaze.

Painted Furniture

Painted Furniture Another piece I was going to take to 32 Flavors Boutique or Sanctuary of Davidson but have decided to keep!  Apparently I needed some furniture in my home!!  Seems like lately I have been making and creating more for myself and friends then to sell.  Totally puts the passion back in it when you do it for yourself or for someone you love.

20 bucks, 2 statues and a whole lot of nakedness.

I bought a couple of statues recently that I just love.

Decorating with Statues

I found this awesome owl at Hobby Lobby.  He was $30.00 but with the 50% off sale, I got him for $15.00.  Pretty impressed with the math aren’t you!

Decorating with Statues This naked man caught my eye at Metrolina Antique and Flea Market.  I kinda picked him up as a joke, but when I found out he was only $5.00 the joke was over.  This naked man was coming home with me.

Decorating with Statues

Found a perfect spot in my studio for my owl friend.

After nakedness.

I found the small green dresser by the trash on the side of the road.  I painted it and added dragonfly knobs.  The painting is an original that I bought at Salvation Army for $20.00.  The lamp came from a yard sale for $1.00 and lampshade is from Tuesday Morning.

Decorating with Statues

You can only imagine how much this statue has made my kids giggle and how many strange looks I have gotten from my husband.  Totally worth the 5 bucks.

Decorating with Statues I especially love that fact that he is totally falling apart and underneath the white paint is a green body that matches the dresser!

Man I love flea markets!!  Can I get a heck yeah!?!?!?

Wood art

I found this box at Habitat Restore for $4.00.  I have no idea what made me open it up to see what was inside.  I’ve never played Backgammon before but for some reason my curiosity got the best of me.

Wood art

When I opened it, I could not believe all those beautiful little pieces of wood!!!! (and bugs)!

Wood art

Remember these!!?!?  Four of these cowboy pictures hung in my son’s room before he discovered football and Xbox.

Wood art

Nester I feel your pain.  The photo of her dog here cracked me up and made me laugh out loud.  Then the next day I had some of my own dog photo bombing going on (as Ellen calls it).

Dixie May was actually with me when I bought the Backgammon game.  Yes I bought the game some time ago and yes I got in trouble for taking her into Habitat, but not as much trouble as when I took her into the grocery store.  Apparently that is a big no no.

Wood art

Paint and some little wood pieces from the game.

wood Art

I was totally in a girly mood……

but also had to go with my favorites!

wood Art

I cut a few pieces of the wood so it would fit in the freshly painted cowboy frames, then I hot glued all the pieces down.

wood Art

I found these at Habitat as well!  Three sets of letter stencils for 50 cents!

wood Art

Luckily my friend and boss lady over at Sanctuary of Davidson, Krissy just showed me how to use these stencils and make the letters look pretty.  When you use these stencils the letters have gaps in them.  See that O up there?!?!?  All you have to do is just fill that in with paint!!!  Duhhhhhhh how did I not know that!?!?

wood Art

The left over scrapes from the wood pieces I cut became a separate project.  Maybe a little problem with throwing anything away?!?!!  You think?
