Love Thy Neighbor

Quilt scraps

I made this a couple of weeks ago.

Quilt scraps

After I cut out all the letters I had all these great scraps left over.

Quilt scraps

I bought this piece of wood already painted and distressed at Metrolina.

The scraps looked like a bunch of little houses!

I bought this Backgammon game at Habitat Restore for $4.00.

Is there a full moon?

If there is a full moon it might just explain a few things.

This past week I have been like a school girl in love.  My head is so up in the clouds I can’t focus or concentrate on anything.  I wore two totally different earrings the other day and accidentally sang to the checkout lady at the grocery store.  I’ve walked into several walls and I’ve burned two things in the kitchen because I just walked out and forgot I was cooking something.  My kids talk to me but I’m not hearing them.  I see their mouth moving but I don’t hear the words. I’m like talking to a wall!   I told my daughter to quit eating with her mouth full.  I don’t know what is wrong with me.  I even took a nap the other day!!  I NEVERRRRR take naps!  I’m like the daydream queen of the year.  I’ve always been a little spacey but this is  ridiculous.

I’m not sad or depressed, actually quite the opposite.  Giddy and silly and plain space cadet city!  The lights are on but no one is home.   Don’t I sound fun to hang out with!?  I just had a birthday.  Could this be what almost 40 is like!?!?

I have started several projects but haven’t finished any except this one.  Thank goodness cause I need something to take to Sanctuary of Davidson.  My space is looking a little bare.  Let me see if I can focus long enough to explain how I did this fun project!!!!

Once the Mod Podge was dry I traced these letters on the back of the wood.  No my husband was not a happy camper with all the ink I used in his printer!  Yes I did print the whole alphabet!

Love art

I put on eight layers of clothing to brave the cold and go out in my garage to cut out the letters with my jigsaw.

Happy Monday!  Here’s to a more normal week!  Although having my head in the clouds has been kinda fun!  Anyone else go through these kinda spells?

Forcing small children to sew.

So happy you stopped by!  Won’t you take a minute and like Button Bird Designs on face book?  Right over there to the right?!  Why thank you!  Also sign up to receive these posts by email so you don’t miss out on any trash to treasure projects, easy do it yourself tutorials, or all the fun we are having up in here!!!

Here’s a fun and easy little craft that you can do with your kiddos to get you in the Valentine’s Day mood.

Fabric hearts

Fabric hearts

Grab lots of fun fabric!

Fabric hearts

Grab your bestest girl.  Isn’t this sweet, mother and daughter creating together!?!?!  Let me be real for just a second….  This is after we got in a huge fight because I wanted her to pull out her sewing machine and sew with her momma.  She went on to inform me that sewing is sooooooo stupid!  Good times!!!!  Once I got her in my sewing room and locked the doors we made a heart template.  We folded the fabric in half and then traced the heart onto the wrong side of the fabric.

Fabric hearts

Before we started sewing the two hearts together we added a little twine in between the two pieces of fabric with a little sticking out the side.

Fabric hearts

If I can get her to sit still and start a craft she really enjoys it.  It’s just getting her to sit still long enough to get started.  She is so super creative and has all sorts of great ideas, however she would much rather be out climbing  trees, running around with all the neighborhood kids, and building forts.  Love this girl.

Fabric hearts

When you sew the two pieces of fabric wrong sides together make sure to leave a 2 inch opening to turn the heart inside out.  Cut excess fabric off around the heart.

Fabric hearts

Turn hearts right side out and iron.

Fabric hearts

Top stitch leaving the 2 inch opening for stuffing!  Once you are done stuffing sew up the opening!

Fabric hearts

Hope you have a day full of love and laughter!  xoxoxo Angela

oh and P.S.  Sewing is soooooo not stupid!
