A little sunshine, warmer temps, a $25.00 dresser from a friend, and I’m a happy girl.
The dresser came with a bunch of scratches and two small holes where a mirror use to attach.
Lots of sanding…
Didn’t want to buy new knobs so painted the old ones.
Glaze left over from our kitchen cabinet redo.
Don’t ya just love a good ole before and after!!?!? Here are some of my past furniture makeovers. Amazing what a little paint can do! All furniture came from either a thrift store or a yard sale.
Happy Tuesday! xoxoxo Angela
My name is Angela Statzer and I love to incorporate just about anything into my artwork. Ranging from recycled materials, vintage items, wood, jewelry, other people’s junk, buttons and fabric, my style is fun and diverse. You can find me smiling at any yard sale, thrift store or flea market. I am a momma to two amazing kids and wife to one hot husband.

All of the before’s and afters look great! I am finishing one up, however I realized that I forgot to take a before picture. I like it so much, I am going to end up keeping it.
Man i do that all the time!!! I have one or two pieces that I wish so bad I had taken the before picture! I want to keep Wagon Wheel but we do not have one square inch to put anything else! It’s hanging out in the hallway right now!
lots of love
Angela
p.s. Can you send me a picture of what you are working on!?
I love the look of painted furniture….your pieces are awesome! I have several things I’d like to paint. So “lots of sanding” and then paint. What type of paint do you use?
Hi Marie!
I had to do lots of sanding on this piece because it had a ton of scratches. If a piece doesn’t have a lot of scratches then I usually just sand a little to knock off the shiny part. I used just regular ole wall paint! If you use Chalk paint you don’t have to sand at all! Check out this post I did on how to paint furniture: http://buttonbirddesigns.com/2012/04/how-to-paint-furniture-part-1.html and this one: http://buttonbirddesigns.com/2012/04/how-to-paint-furniture-part-2.html
Hope this helps!

I seriously need to go shopping with you! I never find cool stuff like that for those prices!!!
Yes girl! We need to plan a shopping trip soon!
lots of love!!
Angela
You go girl!! Some difference between the $25 old and the $180 redone!! Lovin’ others, too. We’ve got some older trunks that look a bit shabby, love the idea of painting the edges, corners and decoupaging the flat parts. Really brightens up. More good ideas I have no idea when/if I’ll get to, lol.
Janet
Thanks Janet!!!!!

I love the makeovers! The dressers are just awesome! I have an old dresser I’d like to make over, too. Looking forward to dragging it out in the garage this summer and trying my painting and sanding skills out.
Yes Susan! I am so excited for some spring weather so I can get out there in the garage and paint some more furniture! I miss it during the winter!
loveeeeeeeee

More awesome re-dos! Again, you’ve inspired me…this time I am going to paint my 26 year old kitchen table.
Hi Mary!
I’m so glad you liked your goodies! Thank you so much for your encouragement and your support! I means a lot to me! I would love to see the before and after of your 26 year old table!!!
lots of love

Love the before and afters.
(I’m trying to find enough courage to re-do our dining room table that is all beaten up…and beat it up more!)
After the glaze, did you put anything on to seal it?
~ Dana
Hi Dana!
Yes I totally forgot to write about that and just realized it when you mentioned it!! I used a wipe on poly! Go and paint that beat up dining room table. I promise you will be so happy you did. What’s the worst that can happen? You don’t like it, so you can paint it again! What happens if you love it!?!?! You have a new piece of furniture that you loveeeeeeee and didn’t have to spend hardly any money on.
Good luck!
Angela
Thanks for the reply.
You never know….I just MIGHT!
I usually forget to take the “before” pictures! Your transformations are fantastic! Keep paintin those finds!
Thanks Doris!!!

Girl, you are a pro! These are fantastic! I love the risks you take and I think the kitchen table is my favorite. It looks so bright and cheery. So, so fun!
Hi Dana!!!!
I always wanted a table like they had on Friends. Do you remember!?!?! They had a table with all different kinds of chairs. I finally got my Friends table!!! I’m such a dork.

Angela
holy cow…that’s exactly what I was thinking about when I saw it! Friends is the first place I ever saw a table and mismatched chairs. No wonder I love it so much…great minds, Angela…great minds.
