20 bucks, 2 statues and a whole lot of nakedness.

I bought a couple of statues recently that I just love.

Decorating with Statues

I found this awesome owl at Hobby Lobby.  He was $30.00 but with the 50% off sale, I got him for $15.00.  Pretty impressed with the math aren’t you!

Decorating with Statues This naked man caught my eye at Metrolina Antique and Flea Market.  I kinda picked him up as a joke, but when I found out he was only $5.00 the joke was over.  This naked man was coming home with me.

Decorating with Statues

Found a perfect spot in my studio for my owl friend.

Decorating with Statues

Decorating with Statues Before nakedness.

Decorating with Statues

After nakedness.

I found the small green dresser by the trash on the side of the road.  I painted it and added dragonfly knobs.  The painting is an original that I bought at Salvation Army for $20.00.  The lamp came from a yard sale for $1.00 and lampshade is from Tuesday Morning.

Decorating with Statues

You can only imagine how much this statue has made my kids giggle and how many strange looks I have gotten from my husband.  Totally worth the 5 bucks.

Decorating with Statues I especially love that fact that he is totally falling apart and underneath the white paint is a green body that matches the dresser!

Man I love flea markets!!  Can I get a heck yeah!?!?!?

love your statues, your dragonfly knobs are killer. I think it’s not so much that he’s naked but that he looks like he’s on the can. I never find cool stuff along the side of the road. Need to get out more : )

Love it all! LOVE those drawer pulls! As far as the naked man… isn’t that a small repro of “The Thinking Man” of “The Thinker” ??? A famous statue anyway… so when anyone giggles or looks at it strange just say you are trying to “culture” them… lol

Hahahahah! Dianne! That is exactly what I told my husband!! I had some famous culture/art in our house!!

Yes Dana! I almost had a heart attack when I found that painting! It had this awful gold frame around it. I wasn’t even in my car, still in the Salvation Army parking lot ripping it off. It is one of my favorite paintings.
      loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

      Hey Laura!
I found that dresser and bought the pulls years ago. We lived in Greenville SC at the time and I found the pulls at a little boutique in downtown Greenville! You could probably find them on Etsy!
Lots of love to you friend!!

I love it! I wish I could change things up more at my house. I seem to get complacent with whatever decorating I’ve done. I like it and just stays that way for what seems forever. You inspire me!

    • angela February 20, 2013 at 10:46 am #

      Hi Mary
I usually spend so much time making stuff to sell that I don’t work on my house much. Something in the last couple of months has changed and I am having more fun playing around in my house! I painted my dining room table yesterday instead of vacuuming! hahaha It really is fun to change stuff up!
      lots of love

This is your “naked man”. Everybody in Europe knows this sculpture from the famous Rodin.
