Noel…I mean love!

love sign

The Nester and I were driving home a few weeks ago and out of no where a sign for an estate sale appeared!!! Insert screeching breaks here.  Wow we were so excited because it was Friday and it was an estate sale!!!!  Turns out they didn’t have much but they did have some leftover Christmas decorations.  I grabbed this Noel word for $1.00!

I keep thinking about what else I could do with the letters.  All I could come up with was the word NO!  I didn’t know what kind of piece of art I could make that would incorporate the word no, so I kept on thinking.  Then I realized if I cut a portion of the N off, I could turn it upside down and have a V!!  LOVE!!

???????????????????????????????

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner this was perfect.  I wanted to have some love stuff in my booth at Sanctuary so I was on a mission.  A love mission that is.

???????????????????????????????

Then last Thursday on the way home again with Nester (she must be my good luck charm), I saw this giant piece of wood lying on the side of the road.  Only a good friend will stop the car and help you load a giant, dirty, heavy piece of trash into her car!

???????????????????????????????

 I cut off the bottom.

Bright beautiful blue paint.  But of course.

I used some glaze and mixed it with brown paint to give the wood an aged look.

Can you see the difference?  Instead of the bright blue, it dulls the paint and gives it some dimension.

???????????????????????????????

I think this sign would be great in a corner of a playroom or in a kitchen or on a back porch.  It would be a good reminder that all we need is a little love!!  I also like how it is pointing up, kinda like pointing to God for love!  Do you need a giant love sign!?  It can be yours for $68.00!  Sorry no shipping on this bad boy!

And the winner of the Button Bird clutch and owl is………Jamie Pelaez!!!  Congratulations Jamie!

Love giveaways!?!?  Stay tuned, I am sewing like a mad woman and have lots of sweet spring bags in the making.  Lots of fun giveaways coming up!

    I *noel* what you’ve done here ;)
And, I wish that you and the Nester would hop in my backseat.

Usually I don’t find too many roadside treasures – but my husband is good at it.
He’s always dragging stuff home and asking if there’s some life still left in it.
    Good man, that one.

Thank you for showing how looking upside down, literally, can be inspirational.

Very cool!! I can’t pay that price during our medical deductible time. though. We’ll use up our $600 dollars apiece before insurance picks up their 80% by the end of Feb. at the latest. Expensive time of the year for us. Who knows, maybe hubs has a piece of wood we could use. If not, he’s a roadside picker, too, lol.
