So I went to grab coffee with my dear friends
Nester and
Caroline a couple weeks ago. Caroline surprised Nester and I with a gift. First of all if you want to talk my love language, it is gifts! I let everyone know well in advanced when my birthday is (February 17th) and secretly LOVEEEE to get presents for Christmas even though I tell my love ones that we are trying to simplify and I don’t need anything! Any who I pulled this beauty out of the bag and almost had a heart attack!

Surely it had taken her days, months, years to make this beautiful knit wrap around necklace/scarf!?!? She must have stopped cooking and cleaning and taking care of her family in order to finish this amazing gift!?!? Right!?!?! I start firing questions at her, how did you make it, how long did it take, who taught you……. She took a deep breathe and told me a little story about Finger Knitting. This piece took her 1 hour! Yes, you read that right, 1 hour. |

| I literally went straight home and learned how to finger knit. It was soooooooo easy!!! I had this one complete before it was time to get the kids off the bus! I even taught my 9 year old daughter how to do it and she hasn’t been able to stop either. She is making lots of necklaces and headbands for her friends at school. Such a fun activity to do while spending hours in the car over the holidays! |
|
| I am having so much fun trying different colors and different types of yarn. |
|
| This one is sooooooo cozy! |
|
| I used a skein of yarn to make enough garland for the length of my staircase. Total time 1.5 hours! |
Goodness talk about taking an idea and running with it… so much talent. You ladies kill me
In the past, I have been unsuccessful with knitting, but this might be worth checking out. Also, I may borrow your stocking hanging idea. That would eliminate the need for the heavy stocking holders that I think of as potential kid-killers!
oh my goodness! i LOVE all the ones that you have made, especially the thick gray ones!
I WANT TO DO THIS!
This is a must do. Thanks for sharing. Your's are beautiful.

I was introduced to finger knitting when my older brother was in fourth grade. His teacher taught his class, my class, my younger sister's class and my little brother's class how to finger knit. We know when certain photos were taken because we can tell who was in the fourth grade at the time… they were finger knitting.
However, none of us ever found a good use for our wonderful (and LONG) creations… Until now that is. Thanks for inspiring me to finger knit once more
I have become obsessed with this as well! Thanks for making it seem so easy:-)
I've made about 15 for friends for Christmas and I made one for garland around our 9 foot Christmas tree. I've done some with multiple pieces of yarn..
Any other tips for how to mix it up?
Found you via Nester. I just love the different looks and styles. Fab. pinning!
I'm over from the Nester too! Love what you've done here! Oh, and here's something strange- I have that same vintage sheet that the top you have modeling your necklaces is made out of. I made a skirt out of mine. How crazy is that?
Visiting from the Nester.
Your dark grey one made me try it myself.
Now, I can't stop!
I finished my 2nd one already.
Here's a really long multi-colored one – my first. Love it!
