Now I Need a Home!

After all the changes I made to my house last weekend, this yellow bench was the only thing without a home.  I bought it about 5 years ago at an antique store and painted it yellow.  I really didn’t do a good job, I had a baby and a three year old at the time, so I was lucky I found time to buy the bench much less paint it.  As I looked it over I just couldn’t take it to the Sanctuary like this.  It needed something…… or did it???  I have such a hard time just leaving things alone, I always have to mess with it.  I need to learn that sometimes less is more.
Less is more? I am not familiar with that concept.
So I took it outside and started sanding it to give it a distressed look.  I usually use sand paper to distress a piece of furniture, however it was NOT working on this.  I would not be defeated, I got out my electric sander and it did the trick.

I couldn’t remember what color it use to be before I painted it, but as soon as I started sanding the red peeked though.  Yellow and red are not normally two colors that I would pick, I am such a green and blue girl, but I liked this look.
As soon as I saw the red peep though, I leaped over to my pile of wood pieces.  If you want to irritate your husband start this collection.  Again if you see a large black plastic tarp over our house, it’s termites, and it’s all my fault.
I had some old yellow and red shutter pieces!!!!  Oh I was getting so excited and I was hammering away, a race against the clock, 45 minutes before camp was over and I had to pick up the kids!!  I couldn’t stop now, the ideas were flowing!!!!
Then I found these upholstery tacks and started hammering them in!

I guess my love door was still fresh in my mind because before I even realized what I was doing I had hammered the same word on this bench!!  Add a couple of pillows and this bench was now ready for the Sanctuary…..or was it?
I went ahead and took it to the Sanctuary today.  I still can’t decide if I like it not, I think the colors are throwing me off.  Yikes should I have just left it alone!?!?  I just get so excited sometimes that I don’t think things though.
What do you think?
Less is more or embellish away??
