Yard Sale Tales

I am an early bird.  My favorite time of the day is around 5:30 AM, when the house is quiet and everyone is still asleep.  I make my coffee, sit in my favorite chair, pray and read.  So getting up early on a Saturday morning for yard sales is noooo problem for me.  Walking out to my car, I look around at my neighbors who are still asleep and think really loud in my head “Do you guys know what you are missing!?!?!?!?!  Yard Sales are getting ready to happen!!!!!!!!!!!”  A lot of times I have to drive around waiting for people to open up their garages.  Yes I am that person that is sitting outside your house waiting for you to start your sale.  I am not ashamed.

I almost tripped over myself and pushed three people out of the way to get to this piece.  The lady wanted $175.00 for it.  Even though I loved it, I had to walk (run) away.

I bought this instead for $13.00.  I think I am going to paint it white and robin’s egg blue.  A little distressing and I think it will be a fun and unique piece.

I grabbed these two original paintings up for $10.00.  The frames are hideous and really take away for the paintings.  I will either pop the frame off and let the canvas show or paint the left frame green and the right frame turquoise.  Very Anthropologie!

I found lots of great stuff for my booth at Metrolina including these two framed prints.  $2.00 each.
I hit a house where the sweet older lady collected owls.  I grabbed everything up that had two wings!  She even gave me a stack of craft magazines for free.

Total spent on all my owl friends, $4.00.
I am always looking in people’s garage to see what else hasn’t made its way outside into the sale yet.  I figure if someone has a piece of furniture in their garage, it is not getting used,  they just need a little nudge in order to sell it.  I saw this beautiful corner cabinet in this garage and asked they lady if it was for sale.  We went in to take a closer look and then………. I turned into a sailor.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw this.  I think I said about 15 words this poor lady hadn’t heard in a while and screamed so loud that I woke everyone up on her street.  After she apologized for still having her Halloween decorations out, I left VERY quickly not even finding out how much she wanted for the corner piece!
These two pitchers and chair were my favorite finds of the day.  $4.00 each.

Can you imagine my husband shaking his head as I unloaded all my loot!!!!
He stopped shaking that head when I looked up this brand new still in the box German Steinbach nutcracker on ebay.  I paid $10.00 for it.

I heart yard sales.
