Yard Sale Tales… Take 2

It’s that time of year, yard sale season.  I swear I go into some sort of depression when the weather gets cooler and people stop having sales.  So these summer months I am going to take full advantage of every Saturday morning that I can get out there and find some treasures.  I don’t feel bad about being away from the family, I am usually gone and back by the time they are done eating breakfast.  This past weekend I left the house at 6:30 and picked up the Nester and then meet up with Reeve.  Reeve was hilarious, she is not normally a yard sale person and definitely not normally out and about at 6:30 on a Saturday morning.

But once she scored this old Judd’s CD, she was singing a different tune, literally!!!  My friend Reeve has the most amazing beautiful voice.  REALLY the most beautiful voice you will ever hear.  When I hear her sing at church I cry every time.  She sings in a band, plays guitar, and plays the drums (so jealous).  It is sooo cool to hang out with someone who uses the word “gig” especially when my last concert was Hannah Montana, I mean Miley Cyrus.  Nothing like rollin around in a mini van jammin the Judds early on a Saturday morning with a couple of dear friends.  Made me smile.  It really made me smile when we ran by McDonald’s for some good ole biscuits and gravy.

Nester, so encouraging and soooooooo inspiring.  One of the best things about her is her sense of humor and her laugh.  She cracks me up.  My stomach and cheeks usually hurt from laughing so much when I am around her. She is one of those friends that you just can’t believe how much you have in common. I heart her.

She bought this foosball table for $5.00, her three boys were sooo excited.  We hit a ton of sales but just didn’t find much.  There have been times when I could barley fit one more thing in my car and there have been lots of times when I come home completely empty handed.  Sometimes it is just fun getting out with a couple of friends and driving around.  Kinda like in high school when you would go cruising….everyone did do that right?

I did find this rubber framed mirror for $8.00.  I had every intention of reselling it at Metrolina, however once I got it home I changed my mind.

While we were driving around we stopped by the Habitat Resale Store so I could pick up my silent auction win!!  I bid and won this old church bench for $46.00, it even has a place on the back for a hymnal and bible.  A little more than what I would normally pay for a piece of furniture but I knew I could resale this at Metrolina for at least $150.00.  Again another purchase totally intended for Metrolina.

So how can two purchases totally change three spaces in my house?

Before
This area between my living room and kitchen has always bothered me.  It is an awkward space that I could never get to look right.  I never bought anything especially for this space, so whatever I had laying around went here.

Before
I found this bench out for trash pick up early one morning while on a walk.  Needless to say, my walk ended very quickly.  It was all about the getting the bench home!  I did like this bench in my entry way, but I wanted it in my dining room. It was also a little small for this space.

Before
I was happy with this bench in my dining room but I wanted a larger bench where I could sit and watch the kids play out front.  I wanted somewhere to sit by the window while I had a cup of coffee and read my book and this one just wasn’t big enough.

After
Now if I could just get my husband to cut those bushes so I could actually see the kids playing out front!
Two dear friends, 24 yard sales, the Judds, coffee, biscuits and gravy, two purchases, and 9,457 changes.  A good day.
