Scrap Wreaths

These wreaths are really fun and easy to make when it is to hot to play outside.  Get the kids involved by having them measure, cut and tie.

I use embroidery hoops for the center.  They are super cheap, you can find them at most thrift stores, and you get two wreaths out of one set.  One for you and one for a gift.  One for you and one for your child that is out of school for summer and ALREADY bored with the pool.
Lots and lots of ribbon.  I am blessed that my grandmother and great grandmother saved everything and are now sharing with me.  If your grandmothers were not pack rats, The Habitat Store has a small craft section with lots of cheap ribbon and Micheal’s also has a great selection of ribbon in the dollar bin.  I have made these wreaths using all the same ribbon and also made wreaths using different leftover pieces of ribbon.  You can also use fabric, t-shirts, or old linen.
Cut 6 inch strips.  The strips can be longer or shorter but long enough to tie a knot around the embroidery hoop.  I like to use pinking shears to give the edges a pretty look.
Tie all the strips around the hoop.  You have a fun little wreath to hang on a door handle, hook, or anywhere to add a pop of color. This craft kept my 5 and 8 year old occupied for nearly an hour!!!  Enough said!

Thanks for reminding me I need to make one of these cute wreaths. I like your use of embroidery hoops.
Great tip. I cut up old clothes for fabric. Recycle and it also makes a memory.
    Thanks!
