12 year old decorating.

Owl Decor

If you didn’t know, I love owls and I love birds.  Not real ones, the real ones actually kind of freak me out.  I will scream like a little girl if one flies close to me.  Buttttttt the pretend ones!?!?  Yes. love.  My sweet friend Tracie gave me this awesome owl set in such a sneaky way!  I had left some flip flops at her house and she returned them in a bag.  When I took the bag I thought the flip flops weighed a little bit more than they should, but whatever.  I carelessly threw the bag on the bench and went about my day.  When I finally emptied the bag, I found three new little friends that I instantly fell in love with!

Where could I display my new little pretend feathered friends where I would see them all the time!?!?

Enter some logs from our fire pit that I have been eyeing for some time and a hot glue gun.

Your last sentences made me smile~because my house looks the same way. I love it, though, and my kids and all their friends love it…it’s comfy, inviting, and lived-in. That’s probably why I love your blog…I feel like I can inspiration from you! So thank you!

I also love all your owls and all your painted furniture….hey can I ask a question? I’m thinking of painting my front door. My house is tan with black shutters and a dark green awning over the front door. I want something different than just a white or even red door. What color would you recommend?

I’m thinking black…but is that too out there?

hahahahaha! That is so funny! My daughter is almost 11 and all her friends loveeee our house! They go crazy over it more than the adults do! Makes me wonder sometimes! But it totally makes me happy and is exactly who I am! My college roommates called my bedroom candyland after the board game because it was so colorful!
      love

P.S. Wouldn’t the black door match the shutters!?! That would look great! Can you send me a photo!?!?! What about a green door to match the awning!?

Hey, can that 12 yr. old come and decorate my house – so cute, colorful, creative and fun! What a sweet thing for your friend to have done – she inspired me to do some of that kind of stuff for others – thanks for sharing this!

      Hi Marie!
Yes she inspired me too! It is amazing what a little something special that someone does for you can do for your soul! Little acts of kindness can go a long way!

Oh I love all the fun delight in your decor. And best of all, the key pieces are those dear owls with the fun story! I think this reminds me of my teaching days when my tree in my room changed with the seasons with writing activities intermingled with their seasonal leaves, fall leaves, snowflakes, (it never snows where we live but ya gotta love teaching the taco to teepee lesson of snowflake magic), to tissue blossoms, to handprint spring leaves. So your tree is very adult like yet takes one back. So it looks super with your style. And it made us your readers smile. What more can a person ask for?!!!!

Ummm. I ended that last sentence with a preposition much to my dismay!!! It should say, “For what more can a person ask?”
There. I feel more teacher like already!
